Default Bearded Blood Bath - Mesmer Blood Spike Build

Bearded Blood Bath - Mesmer Blood Spike Build

The name? Well I'm called 'Bearded Mesmer'

With the new update to Lyssa's Aura, I decided to make a new build around the blood magic line of Necromancer. The build will be presented below. I've only tested it on Balthazar testing arenas and I've been able to spam my spells and never run out of energy. Also I'm currently running it in AB battles, so sorry if I killed you! (Am I heck)

When EoTN came out, a new blood magic skill appeared called [Angorodon's Gaze] It was way over powered and was nerfed roughly 2 weeks later, so I enjoyed the builds that came out surrounding this. A build was created that was basically similar to the Ranger Toucher build, but the difference was that you could spam your blood sucking spells at range, therefore staying out of as much trouble as possible. 60AL armor is not good in the middle of mobs. We don't like scary.

Anyway I enjoyed that old blood spiking build so much, I decided to create one with the new elite skill updates.

HERE'S THE BUILD:

14 Fast Casting
10 Inspiration Magic (Lyssa's Aura +3 Energy pip cut off)
12 Blood Magic

[Lyssa's Aura][Arcane Echo][Angorodon's Gaze][Blood Drinker][Vampiric Gaze][Awaken the Blood][Life Siphon][Ether Feast]

WHAT YOU DO:

1) Firstly as you only have 12 blood magic, let's increase that! Activate Awaken the Blood and so you now have 14 blood magic.

2) Second, cast Lyssa's Aura giving you an extra +3 energy regeneration, +7 in total.

3) Then immediately cast Arcane Echo followed by Angorodon's Gaze to make two copies of that skill.

4) Follow that up with Blood drinker to make yourself bleed, then spam Angorodon's Gaze, Vampric Gaze and Blood Drinker constantly. Angorodon's Gaze is an important energy gainer so use it well. That combines amazingly well with Lyssa's Aura giving you plenty of energy to spam your skills. Energy is your friend!

5) As you will be bleeding, feel free to cast Life Siphon on foes. It has a 2 second recharge so can be applied generously if you fancy it.

6) Ether feast is a 120HP emergency heal. You'll be sucking blood from your foes which of course tops your health up, but low health is not good. Mesmers are scared of this.

VARIANTS:

I have been thinking of ways to re-invent an old build and this is what I've come up with. The last two slots, Life Siphon and Ether Feast are up to the users choice. I've yet to decide what final two skills to add there, although I like the 'spamability' of Life Siphon to stop the bleeding degen effect, althought -3 degen is hardly a major concern.

Sometimes you can get low on energy depending if you don't spam Angorodon's Gaze well, (but that's the whole point of the build, so only stupid people would really) so I was thinking of adding [Power Drain] instead of [Ether Feast] just to give you plenty of extra energy when needed in emergencies.

When your duplicate Angorodon's Gaze runs out, you usually have enough energy to use the other spells until it recharges.

FEEDBACK PLEASE:

Please give me feedback on this build, in constructive feedback.

I've not run this in PVE, only PVP Alliance Battles, but it works well and you never run out of energy. You can spam at will and it works fine. So I figured if it works ok in AB battles, then the AI of PVE would be fine.

4 of these Mesmers charging around in AB is fun, much like the groups of touch rangers you have.

I'm not sure whether to put it in the AB battles thread, but thought the Mesmer PVE forum was better as it's in it's own Mesmer section for now.

Bye!

As a mesmer myself, I must say this looks interesting. It seems to have potential. However, in my experience, Lyssa's Aura is of course vunerable to removal, which may put a spanner in the works. It's not easy to cover it either as it refreshes with every spell.

Aside from that, you have plenty of self healing and damage, so it looks like you are on to a winner! If I would suggest anything, take something that can remove enchantments maybe?

I agree 100%, hence I was wary about posting it in PVE. In PVP Alliance Battles enchantment stripping is very limited, so it works 100%. I've yet to have the enchantment removed in those arenas.

PVE is a different ball game though I openly admit.

I'm open to changing certain skills though and I encourage it so thanks! I hope that if we use this to pool our knowledge together, it could be improved.

this isn't a spike build...
spike builds are team builds where a lot of people coordinate all of their damage on one target to kill it before monks can react.
most monks can react quickly enough to catch a "spike" from a lone player spamming life stealing skills who dedicated his whole bar to low dps.

I'm just wondering where you got the attributes. Unless you're using superiors, in which case that is a bad idea simply because you can't switch over armoursets in PvP.

Oh, and Rhamia is true.

I'd put my money on a touchie over this. But both are pretty easy to destroy in AB.

I was asking myself the same question Tyla is.
I am guessing 12/10(+4)/8(+2)?

Second of all - it's blood.
Life stealing bypasses protection so it's naturally bad.
My guess is that you are dealing damage at a Flare-spammer rate.

So the question is - in a game format where you have the choice to select the party (which AB is) - why chose you (with a sup rune) over a warrior with pretty much an empty skillbar who both deal the same amount of damage?

This is a good build aside from the fact that [Lyssa's arua] is a Key to the performance of this build. If the elite gets removed early on where you have plenty energy, that wouldn't be too much a problem. However, I suggest taking out [life siphon] and put in another enchantment(I use [mantra of flame] since fire damage is common in pretty much everywhere). This way even if you got [shatter enchantment] Lyssa is still alive.

But watch out for [Strip Enchantment], from what I experienced ALOT of necros in AB carries them. Also this build can be subjected to [thunderclap]

I can't see this being awsome in AB or any PVP game. It's a nice change though and the Fast Casting would help the horrible casting time of some blood skills a lot, but the blood magic line is still weak.
It takes ages to kill anything with blood magic. You'll be lucky to kill a single target in 10 seconds.

Been running something close (atleast this weekend) Fun to spam

I had [blood of the aggressor] in my set and I copied [Vampiric Gaze] for the faster recharge

In relation to what, movement? Or casting.

If it's the former, then you have no idea, really.

I tried this in AB....and it isn't TOO effective...I mean it deals good dmg but compared to what I have been running(VoR mes) the build is clearly inferior to it since anyone of the common mesmer shutdown and effectively shutdown this build, at least for a while.(backfire, diversion etc.)

Sounds good in theory but extremely bad in practical sense. You're a sitting duck spamming these spells while a ganker outdamage your life-stealer. Oh, Spiteful Spirit and Visions of Regret are extremely popular in AB, which means you will be utterly shutdown or killed by one of these hexes.

Wrong. Killing things with Blood Magic skills takes a long time. It will take you a long time to kill things in PVE. Too long.
It is possible to use blood magic skills through most of the game, but it's slow, inefficient and often risky.
